We are in the process of upgrading security across all RapNet accounts to include multi-factor authentication security.

What is multi-factor authentication?

Multi-factor authentication is an extra layer of security designed to ensure that you’re the only one who can access a specific account—even if someone else knows your password.

It verifies your identity by asking you to give more than one piece of identifying information when logging into an account.

Multi-factor authentication is usually made up of these 2 pieces of information

  1. Knowledge: Your login username and password

  2. Possession: A 6-digit temporary code sent by email or via an SMS to your phone

This means that as well as providing a password as proof of identity to log in to an account, you'll also need to provide a 6-digit verification code that's automatically emailed or sent by SMS to your phone.

Requiring you to provide 2 pieces of information strengthens login security because it makes it more difficult for someone who has your password to log in to your account.

Multi-factor authentication & RapNet

Multi-factor authentication on RapNet means that your password alone is no longer enough to access your RapNet account,

When logging in the first time after multi-factor authentication is enabled on your account, you will need to provide a 6-digit code which you can choose to be sent to either your registered email or mobile phone.

By asking you to give more than just your RapNet password as a way of identifying who you are when logging into your account, we ensure that only you, the registered user on the account, log in.

How does multi-factor authentication make RapNet more secure?

Requiring you to provide 2 pieces of information strengthens your RapNet login and dramatically improves the security of your RapNet account and all the personal and trade information you store on RapNet

If your RapNet password is stolen or you lose your phone, the chances of another person having your second-factor information are extremely low.

Members who have multi-factor authenticating switched on will need to provide 2 pieces of information when logging into RapNet on a new device the first time they sign in after it is enabled. Click here for guidance.

Why is multi-factor authentication good for you?

As computer hacking becomes more prevalent, we must protect our members from the online scamming and fraud that goes on in the international marketplace.

Multi-factor authentication improves our platform and maintains RapNet’s security, reputation, and value.

We will always put our members’ security first before anything else and making sure that RapNet is the safest diamond trading platform is our number one priority.

Multi-factor authentication reduces the chance of an unauthorized person accessing your RapNet account.

For security purposes, you will be asked to verify your identity using the two-factor system periodically.
