Rapaport Specifications—commonly referred to as RapSpecs—classify round, laboratory-graded diamonds into quality groups based on cut, measurements, finish, and other physical traits. They help buyers and sellers quickly evaluate and sort diamonds.

How RapSpecs Work

  • Grades: A, B, or C, with subdivisions like A1, A2, A3 (best to lower).

  • GIA-Only: Specs beginning with a letter (A/B/C) apply only to GIA-graded diamonds.

  • Non-GIA: Have numeric RapSpecs (1, 2, or 3), based on broader criteria.

  • Source Data: Derived from the diamond’s grading report and seller/lab inputs (e.g., brown tint).

The Rapaport Price List is based on diamonds with RapSpec A3 or better.

How to Search by RapSpec on RapNet

  1. Use the RapSpec filter in the diamond search engine.

  2. Choose a saved search for a specific RapSpec or select multiple RapSpecs for broader results.
