Rapaport's Green Star Source Program tracks the source of polished diamonds from rough diamond producers meeting specific ethical and environmental standards.

This enables diamond buyers to identify diamonds that have been sourced responsibly and ethically and promotes responsible sourcing practices in the diamond industry.

Currently, the Rapaport Green Star designation is limited to polished diamonds sourced from Okavango rough diamonds in Botswana and DTC Rough Diamonds from Botswana, Namibia, Canada and South Africa, and which are issued a GIA Diamond Origin Report (DOR).

The green star program will be expanded as time goes on to include other producers.

Benefits of the Green Star Source Program:

  • Diamond buyers can be more confident that the diamonds they purchase are sourced responsibly.

  • Promotes transparency in the diamond industry.

  • Helps reduce conflict and human rights abuses in diamond-producing regions.
