Why Are There Fewer Diamonds or Jewelry Items Showing on My Website?

If you're seeing fewer diamonds or jewelry on your website than in your Instant Inventory preview, or your feed isn’t populating as expected, there are two likely causes: mismatched settings between your feed and your website, or overly strict filtering rules. This article explains how to troubleshoot both.

Check for Parameter Mismatches Between Preview and Website

A common reason for discrepancies is a mismatch between the filters applied in your Instant Inventory rule and those your developer set on the website.

For example:

  • Your Instant Inventory rule: 0.10–5.00ct, D–M color, FL–SI2, Excellent–Good

  • Your website settings (set by your developer): 0.20–4.00ct, D–J color, IF–SI2

Solution: Ensure that the developer has all the correct parameter details before they begin setting up the website. This will help prevent any discrepancies from occurring. Keep in mind, this issue is typically not present for those using the Instant Inventory widget but may affect users with the API.

Review and Troubleshoot Your Instant Inventory Feed Rules

Once you’ve completed your diamond or jewelry rules (which include product criteria, suppliers, and pricing), your feed should start populating within minutes. If not, here’s what to check:

Diamond/Jewelry Rule Setup

  • You must complete all three parts: item criteria, supplier selection, and price markup.

  • For fancy colored diamonds, make sure to choose both the color range and color intensity.

  • Fluorescence: Fancy colored diamonds often do not include fluorescence information.

Supplier Permissions

  • Confirm that your selected suppliers have authorized you to display their inventory.

  • Not all suppliers make their entire RapNet inventory available for Instant Inventory.

  • Some may only authorize a subset of their listings.

Filtering Rules That May Limit Your Feed

Diamond Filters

Certain filters can significantly restrict which diamonds or jewelry come through. Here are common ones to review:

  • Carat Range: Very low carat limits (e.g., 0.01–0.30ct) reduce available inventory.

  • Low Price Range: A total price range of $1–$1,000 may exclude many listings.

  • Clarity Range: Filtering for only lower clarity grades (e.g., I1–I3) narrows results.

  • Guaranteed Available: Only check this if your suppliers mark diamonds as guaranteed.

  • No BGM: Only select this if suppliers explicitly list BGM information.

  • Fluorescence: Don’t combine “None” with a specific fluorescence color in the same rule. Choose colors only if the suppliers list that info.

Depth and Table Percentages

Only filter by depth or table if you’re sure all your chosen suppliers provide those measurements. Otherwise, diamonds without these details will be excluded from your feed.

Excluded Diamond Types

Even with correct rules, some diamonds simply won’t appear in your feed:

  • White diamonds below ‘M’ color

  • Cash-priced diamonds: Ensure your suppliers use regular asking prices.

  • Treated diamonds

  • Matched pairs

  • Less common shapes: e.g., Trilliant, European Cut, Rose, Shield, Square Emerald

Troubleshooting Tip

Run a search on RapNet using the exact same parameters you used in your Instant Inventory rule. If your search returns few or no results, your filters may be too narrow—or your suppliers may not have uploaded diamonds with those exact criteria.lving any issues promptly.
